Just got a few books in the mail. Duh. I’m always doing that.
This time, I bought a book because the author just keeps popping up everywhere:
“James Altucher this… James Altucher that…”
Who the hell is this James Altucher guy?
His Instagram is… passable (Instagram snobbery), and I’ve seen a few pics of him (could pass for Malcolm Gladwell’s kid). And that’s all I know.
In fact, I know so little about James Altucher I had to type into Google, “What James Altucher book should I read?” Google spits out some opinions, Reddits, Amazon lists, etc. I go with the bestseller: Choose Yourself. Not sure why I picked this book. I mean, read the description:

I’m a little past “choosing myself.” I chose myself two years ago, and it’s been bad ass. But this is the book everyone on Amazon’s losing their shit over, so I thought I’d give it a try.
Here comes in the mail this white book with a simple vector logo. Bright, colorful, simple. Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter (not Jack Dorsey, by the way) gives the foreword. I’m still… sorta… unimpressed.
Then I flip to a chapter about a plumber cleaning up shit. And it’s funny. It’s like David Sedaris writing a Chris Guillebeau book.
I say to myself, “Oh shit, I’m really going to like this.” Then I wrote this.
